Dr. T. Powers Griffin

Dr. Powers Griffin joined his father in practice after receiving his doctorate from the Southern College of Optometry in 1978. Dr. Powers grew up in San Clemente and went on to do his undergraduate work at the University of Santa Clara. In addition to his studies while at Santa Clara, he had the good fortune to row for the college crew team and competing throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Powers is an active and charter member of the Laguna Niguel Business Club and the Laguna Niguel Chamber of commerce. He is also active in the Laguna Niguel Lions club, having served as president in 1984-85 and currently the Sight and Hearing Chairman. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Laser center. He enjoys donating his free time to local school screenings health fairs, and speaking to groups about Optometry and eye health.

Dr. Powers has published articles in Optometric Journals related to the work the Griffin Optometric Group has done in the contact lens field. He continues to be an invited speaker to professional groups of optometry’s and ophthalmologists about current contact lens development including colored contacts, contacts for astigmatism, and bifocal lenses. In 2001, Dr. Powers became part of a select group of optometrists to pass a rigorous entrance exam into the American Academy of Optometry. This achievement signifies “Dr. Powers” dedication to furthering his education in optometric science.

“Dr. Powers” and his wife live in Laguna Niguel and are proud of their two daughters and son who has recently started college. During his spare time, Dr. Powers enjoys traveling and playing golf.
